  • Provide high school transcript, high school equivalency test (HiSet), or GED
  • Provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. Transcripts are only considered official if they are sent directly to UMPI from the granting institution or their electronic ordering service. Student-submitted transcripts will not be reviewed.
  • International transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES- or AICE-endorsed agency and sent from the agency directly to UMPI; evaluations often take a few weeks to process and must be received by the appropriate document deadline
  • International students are required to demonstrate English proficiency by submitting a TOEFL (71 IBT / 197 CBT / 530 PBT minimums) or IELTS (6.0 minimum) score. Students can obtain a waiver for this requirement if they come from an English-speaking country or have successfully completed a credit-bearing, college-level written/spoken English course (ESL courses do not fulfill this requirement). Documentation of English proficiency must be received by the appropriate document deadline.

To earn your BLS - Management Information Systems Minor, you need to complete 120 credit hours of coursework. Each course is built around a series of competencies. Once you have mastered the series, you complete the course. This program includes general education, management minor core, and general elective courses. BUS 141: Introduction to Project Management with Microsoft Projects

Duration: 8 weeks, Self-paced   |   Credit Hours: 3

Introduction to Project Management will present the foundational skills needed to have an immediate impact on projects. Microsoft Project will be used with an emphasis on practical application in the workplace. This course will also provide the skills needed to be an effective member and leader of project teams.

BUS 200: Intermediate Business Computing

Duration: 8 weeks, Self-paced   |   Credit Hours: 3

In-depth exploration of the advanced features of the Microsoft Office suite. Integration of spreadsheet and database information into reports and presentations and querying functions. Prerequisite: Students lacking significant prior experience with business computing are advised to take BUS 125 prior to enrolling in this class.

BUS 244: Management Information Systems

Duration: 8 weeks, Self-paced   |   Credit Hours: 3

This course will provide an introduction to computer and telecommunications information systems. Topics covered will include information system concepts, hardware and software systems components, basics of systems operation, and the ethical use of information systems in culturally diverse organizations and societies. This course is designed to accommodate non-business majors who wish to gain a greater understanding of information systems. Prerequisite: BUS 125 or BUS 200.

BUS 245: Programming for Managers

Duration: 8 weeks, Self-paced   |   Credit Hours: 3

Programming structure for modern programming languages used in businesses. The necessary skills of programming design, structures, testing, documentation, implementation, and maintenance are accomplished using PC-based programming tools. Provides MIS students and managers with an understanding of how object-oriented programming can be used to enhance business applications. Prerequisite: BUS 125 or BUS 200.

BUS 345: Database Management Systems

Duration: 8 weeks, Self-paced   |   Credit Hours: 3

This course focuses on the database components of an information system. Topics covered include database models, data structures, storage, retrieval, manipulation, and reporting within organizations. Special emphasis will be placed on database applications within the functional areas of business such as human resources, finance, accounting, marketing, and operations. Co-requisite: BUS 244.

BUS 440: Business Analytics

Duration: 8 weeks, Self-paced   |   Credit Hours: 3

This course focuses on the development and delivery of predictive data analysis for strategic decision-making in organizations. Students will apply the principles and tools to real-world problems, enabling them to integrate their knowledge of business intelligence in their careers—essential to their performance and competitive advantage.

Students must take 62 credit hours of general elective courses.

*Time to completion varies by student and is based on several factors including prior college coursework, relevant work experience, amount of time dedicated to studying, and the number of courses completed each session.

**Students with lower than a 1.75 GPA are required to interview with a YourPace Admissions representative.
