What types of projects can students expect in your online courses?

After learning basic sentence structures and vocabulary, students are asked to describe their families, hobbies, foods they like to eat, and things that they enjoy—in both written and oral formats.

What should students take away from your classes? What do they learn?

In French class, students will learn basic sentence structure and vocabulary, grammar and verbs, and to describe events in their personal life and share those with others.

What advice would you give to those considering an online bachelor's degree program?

The online classroom provides excellent flexibility, anywhere and anytime. It encourages and challenges the student to develop personal strategies with time management and work discipline while taking risks to achieve success through the virtual classroom at their own speed and interest.

What is the value of a bachelor's degree? What are some of the skills students gain in this program?

The bachelor’s degree prepares the student in a targeted field of study which is of interest to the student. It prepares the student for deeper, qualified training which is backed by a higher educational system.

The bachelor’s degree demonstrates to the community at large that the student has stayed the course and finished his/her educational goal. In French, the student learns the basic skills of language formation to communicate with others and negotiate meaning.

Why did you start teaching?

I was a teenager when I first started to teach. I learned English at the British Council in Lisbon, Portugal—my native country—and excelled at it. Quickly, I discovered that I had a natural ability not only in the English language but also for teaching others who wanted to learn. My first students were Portuguese people who wanted to learn English. In time, I expanded on my teaching talent to add French, Spanish, and Portuguese.
